OB Oktoberfest, a local fall tradition, returns some Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event features entertainment both inside the beer garden at the foot of Newport Avenue as well as outside in the all ages section on the grassy, beachfront area.

The festival is produced by Hoy Hoy Boys Inc. in association with the Ocean Beach MainStreet Association and Ocean Beach Community Foundation.

The day begins with O.B. Brat Trot, a 5k run held in partnership with the Hash House Harriers. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and more details are available at OBOktoberfest.com.

In addition to food and merchandise vendors, traditional Oktoberfest competitions such as stein-holding and bratwurst-eating will be held.

A $10,000 prize is offered in the Sausage Toss, a one of a kind competition that challenges participants to toss a small rubber hotdog into a bucket 50-feet away. The finalists for that event will be held on the beer garden stage late in the day.

OB Oktoberfest runs a shuttle that cycles from Pacific Beach to Ocean Beach during the event.
